  40. Data Compression - Remotely Possible/32 now allows data compression
  41.     for asynchronous communications during remote control, file
  42.     transfer and chat.  Remotely Possible/16 Dial does not support
  43.     this feature.
  44. TAPI Support - Remotely Possible/32 supports the Windows 95 TAPI
  45.     interface that allows device sharing among communications
  46.     applications. Now users can have their Fax software waiting
  47.     for a call, and use the same line to make an outgoing call
  48.     in Remotely Possible without the user having to close the
  49.     Fax software.
  50.     2 active COM ports are allowed in the Remotely Possible software.  
  51.     This number is the total of COM ports waiting for a call 
  52.     plus any COM ports that are being used by an outgoing 
  53.     connection.  Support for multiport boards (ex. Digiboard) is 
  54.     available, contact your Avalan Sales Representative for details.  
  55. User selectable modem(s) for incoming calls.  Choose the modem(s)

  83. Avalan Technology's Remotely Possible/32 for the Windows 95

  85. This version of Remotely Possible is designed to run on the
  86. Windows 95 Gold Operating System, and should not be used
  87. on other versions of Microsoft Windows.  Remotely Possible/32 is not
  88. compatible with Windows NT, Windows 3.x, or WIN-OS2.  It will also
  89. fail to function under other Windows emulators.

  122. We hope that you have an enjoyable experience with Remotely Possible/32.  
  123. Please review the contents of this readme.txt file prior to
  124. installation, particularly the LIMITATIONS section.
  125.  
  126. Windows 95 and 32-bit applications require large amounts of memory.
  127. If your system has limited memory resources (such as a small amount of
  128. hard drive space for the swap file), Remotely Possible and other
  129. programs may exhibit abnormal behavior.  We recommend maintaining at
  130. least 30 megabytes of free disk space that Windows may use for its
  131. swap file.

  133. Remotely Possible/32 no longer makes use of the system.ini file.  
  134. Instead we update the Registry to load RP32.VXD and VIDEO32.DLL when
  135. Host Mode is enabled.
  136.  
  137. Remotely Possible cannot always function correctly when Windows 95 is
  138. running in safe mode.  Please restart Windows 95 in normal mode
  139. before running Remotely Possible.

  142. III. INSTALL
  143.  
  144. Install
  145. ~~~~~~~
  146. During the installation process, Remotely Possible will determine
  147. disk space requirements and the operating system.  Remotely Possible
  148. install checks for at least 3MB of disk space and that you are 
  149. running Windows 95.  If either of these checks fail you will be 
  150. unable to install Remotely Possible.
  151.  
  152. Remotely Possible/32 installation defaults to the standard 
  153. application install path for Windows 95. 
  154. x:\Program Files\Avalan\Remotely Possible.  This path is user 
  155. selectable but the default is recommended.
  156.  
  157. During the installation of Remotely Possible, the install program will
  158. check for existing and loaded versions of RP32.VXD and Video32.dll.
  159. If these files are loaded from a previous version of 
  160. Remotely Possible/32, your system may have to be restarted at the 
  161. end of the install.  You will receive a notice at the end of the 
  162. installation if applicable.

  164. DeInstall
  165. ~~~~~~~~~
  166. You may now deinstall the product by running the REMOVE.BAT script
  167. from your installation disk.  To deinstall the product, insert your
  168. Remotely Possible/32 disk into drive A:, from the Start Menu select 
  169. Run, on the Open line type the following A:\REMOVE.BAT

  171. IV. LIMITATIONS
  172.  
  173. Limitations
  174. ~~~~~~~~~~~
  175. WARNING: DO NOT INSTALL REMOTELY POSSIBLE/32 IF REACHOUT, PCAnywhere
  176. OR OTHER THIRD PARTY REMOTE CONTROL SOFTWARE PACKAGES EXIST ON YOUR
  177. SYSTEM.  PLEASE DEINSTALL THESE BEFORE INSTALLING REMOTELY POSSIBLE/32.

  179. Microsoft Plus Pack Themes cause various viewer display problems.
  180. Therefore it is recommended that you avoid running these desktop
  181. themes on any Host PC.
  182.  
  183. Disable Host Keyboard currently allows Host interaction if a DOS
  184. window is opened.  Otherwise the feature functions as stated.

  186. V. CONFIGURATION TIPS
  187.  
  188. Microsoft Word Performance
  189. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
  190. When Microsoft Word is set to View - Page Layout, you may experience
  191. a delay during a Dial connection when typing.  To increase the 
  192. performance in this area use the following guidelines:
  193.     - Select View - Normal
  194.     - Begin typing until you see an increase in performance
  195.     - Select View - Page Layout
  196.     - Typing should resume at the previous speed

  199. Remote Control
  200. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
  201. To configure RP32 as a Host, select the Change Settings icon from
  202. within RP32, then the Host tab, then check the box to enable host 
  203. operation.  This change will cause your pc to reboot before taking
  204. effect.
  205.  
  206. It is recommended that the following User Preferences be set:
  207.         HOST
  208.                 Hide Remotely Possible
  209.                 Disable Wallpaper
  210.  
  211.         TCP/IP
  212.                 Data Compression  (When using SLIP or PPP)
  213.  
  214. User Preferences
  215. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

  217. When connecting as a Host the Host options are used for the connection,
  218. when connecting as a Viewer the viewer options are used for the connection.
  219. However, the Host preferences take precedence over Viewer options should
  220. the two differ.
  221.  
  222. Note: If you start Chat or File transfer the viewer options are used.
  223. This design is used to be compatible with the 16 bit version of
  224. Remotely Possible.  In Remotely Possible16 bit the remote control
  225. options are negotiated at the beginning of the connection. Not when
  226. the viewer or host is started.

  228. Remotely Possible/Sockets Update
  229. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
  230. Remotely Possible/Sockets version 2.0 provides enhanced features when
  231. connecting to a PC running Remotely Possible/32.  Therefore, it is
  232. recommended that you upgrade existing Sockets PCs to version 2.0.

  234. Remotely Possible/Dial Update
  235. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
  236. Remotely Possible/Dial version 4.1 provides enhanced features when
  237. connecting to a PC running Remotely Possible/32.  Therefore, it is 
  238. recommended that you upgrade existing Dial PCs to version 4.1.
